Calling all Socially-minded

Creatives in Portland!

Upcoming Event

Past

Events

It’s 2019 - the year of Stonewall Uprising’s 50th anniversary, which marked the beginning of queer liberation. As people around the world come together to celebrate this momentous occasion, some members of early liberation movements (or queer pioneers) are going back into the closet due to fears of discrimination in elderly health and social services.

AIGA Portland Design for Good and Wilde Town are partnering on a project to raise awareness of and prevent LGBT elderly isolation by showcasing and empowering Portland’s diverse community of queer pioneers.

Creatives are invited to design artifacts for a divergent, visual storytelling exhibit spotlighting Portland’s queer community. Each participating creative will be given a month to realize their concept inspired by a story provided through ethnographic research conducted by Wilde Town. The storytelling medium will be decided by the participant. All participants’ work will be featured in a final show on May 9th, 2019. This is a great opportunity for Portland-based makers and designers to share their talents and connect with like-minded, local creatives!

Interested in the project?

An informational meeting will be held on Monday, February 11th for all potential participants.

Wilde Town exists to empower LGBT baby boomers (our queer pioneers) to overcome the risk of marginalization and discrimination in later life by redefining the future of aging through self organization.
